Get More Twitter Followers With Your Own Twitter List

November 6th, 2009

Thanks for coming back, get the free "Twitter and Wordpress Power Tools" ebook, as a token of our appreciation!

twitter-listWell here at My Twitter Tactics we are always trying to bring twitter news and of course twitter tips and tactics to our readers. We know we are a little late on this one, but we wanted to address the new twitter “list” feature all the same.  We are not sure if twitter will keep the Twitter List around forever, for right now it is still in beta and they are looking for as much feedback as they can get to see if users are interested in it becoming a permanent fixture on the site or not.

So, if you like this new feature you should make sure to have your voice heard and chime in on the site to let the owners know that you want it to stay.  If not let em know all the same, twitter is a community based site and your voice does count!

What Is The Twitter List?

The twitter list is nothing more than a group on twitter.  You can create a new twitter list from your account and add who ever you like to it, this seems to be a new way to create miniature focus groups on your account.  This new feature adopts the same “one way follow” ability that twitter has created with there original site.  You get a new extension type web address that includes the name of your group in the address to keep it juicy for the search engines.  People can follow your list without being invited, unless you mark it as private, then you get total control over who is there and who is not.

How Do I Get More Follower By Making A Twitter List

OK..OK you may not get more followers exactly, but this new feature definitely gives you an opportunity to get more people viewing your tweets and raises your syndication power on the twitter site and off.  By this we believe you can use this new tool to assist in the growth of your twitter following to an astronomical amount.

Is Twitter Really That Great or Just The 3rd Party Twitter Apps?

October 1st, 2009

twitter sucksTwitter is something that not all that many have thought  it was cracked up to be, but then…

Well the problem with twitter to most people is also it’s strong suite, that is it’s simplicity.  Well we all know that people in this techo-enhanced gadget loving age are not really looking for “simple” they are looking for “cool.”  So when a new person sees twitter for the first time, most every persons response is the same, “So This Is What Everybody Is Talking About?”  and there is the problem with twitter, it is nothing better than email, chat, instant messaging or even a simple online forum.

Twitter is nothing special, it does nothing new and really doesn’t make it any easier to communicate with anybody, because now you also have to go get another account to stay in touch with your same old friends.  It seems confusing to most and myself included.

The fact that you have to use 3rd party websites and applications to make it usable in the normal since.  If you want to share a photo, video or more than 140 characters, you off to anther site just to make this possible.

So the real question is what makes people want to download applications, get accounts at a bunch of sites and use many different websites to get the same effect as sending an email?  Well, I have no idea!

I suppose that the huge Buzz built around twitter has a lot to do with it.  For celebrities and other busy folks, the fact that you can automate its updates using RSS Feeds, so in essence you never even have to go to the site to “look” like you use it, may be appealing to some.

I love to see whats new on twitter once an a while, but I very rarily go directly to the website twitter.com I use other services that offer better search capability and don’t crash all the time due to over usage like twitter does.

The point of my rant here is this, twitter does nothing special, twitter as a website is not stable and its servers are down constantly, twitter is only usable if you use other websites to access it and again why not just post your info on any forum on the web?  I think that by any standards you choose to use, twitter is a failure as a web service among other things.

The only saving grace is that they used there best judgement to allow others to build on there code and make it usable to the common person my making their programming api’s available to the public.  But at the same time, if you need others to use your code to make your site worth using, why does twitter not take on the good ideas that others have created?

Well that’s enough smack talking for now, just frustrated that the fastest growing website on the planet is so bla!

Later on guys!

Twitter Verified Profiles Are Here

June 17th, 2009

twitter-verifiedThere has been much talk amongst many online businesses and Internet gurus across the web about the possibility of the Twitter allowing celebrities the chance to have a Twitter Verified Profile.  Now the wait is over, just yesterday Twitter released there new account verification system and Oprah, Shaq and many others have already gotten there accounts verified over night.

Twitter says that this new feature will help fight the ongoing problem with celebrity imposters on their site.

It is believed that these top celebrities may have been part of the driving force behind this change on twitter, both Oprah and Shaq boast over 1 Million followers, so they have to be some of the most influential users on the site.

Michael Phelps has not taken the plunge to get his account verified yet, but then he only has 8,000 followers , Ouch!

The decision to verify these high profile accounts on twitter, is to protect the good names of these celebrities and make it harder for people to “pose” as them on popular social sites.  Facebook is soon to follow in twitters footsteps, as they are just about to change the profile naming convention as you may have already seen.  This will allow them to put a hold on all the top celebrity names and then sell them off to the celebs!

Official Twitter Verified Profile Info

Watch this video on the new Twitter Verified Profiles!

Not everybody will want or need a twitter verified account, but it is good to know who you are “really” following. There are many bogus and simply shady characters on twitter trying to pose as somebody they are not and now that should be a problem of the past with Twitter Verified Profiles!
