My Twitter Tactics usually shares information based on twitter.  We love to let our readers know how to get the most out of the twitter experience and how to use the third party tools that are available to make tweeting more fun and of course more efficient.  Today we wanted to share on a different topic, Software! We all use it and we all love it, although today we are not talking about web apps, we are talking about software for your computer.

We all use programs on our Mac or PC to help us enjoy our media, keep track of our files and some of us have even been known to take advantage of a productivity software here and there too.  If you are looking for new software for your computer, you may have notice that buying the applications you want can become a very expensive predicament.  It is not uncommon to spend as much on the software you want as you did on the computer it is running on. If you are anything like the guys here, you most likely love to save a buck or two where you can.

There are a lot of companies that sell computer software online, but there are not so many that offer a good price. If you are looking for a place to browse all the newest software for your PC or Mac, you should take a look at this new software store. You will find a huge selection and like we said, a lot of good prices too. These guys have some pieces of software for huge discounts, so go ahead and get the programs you want and pay a price that you will be bragging to your friends about too!

Twitter Stomps Auto Follow

Twitter-Kills-Auto-FollowIt is no surprise, Twitter made it clear that they were going to do away with all the sites that offered an auto follow twitter service. The fact is that they have no way of truly getting rid of every site that offers such a service.  So what twitter has done is changed their TOS and is now only allowing websites that offer twitter following managment tools who abide by these new TOS terms to use the Twitter Oauth service.  This means that if a site wants to use the twitter login authentication process for its users they have to abide by the twitter Terms Of Service.

For some sites, they will simply continue to offer the same auto-follow service that they always have, but for the users of this service, you will have to have a new login and then store your twitter credentials on their website for future use.   This is looked at as a security risk to many, however most of the early twitter services all operated on this basis.  This is a change that needed to come very soon, as more and more users were using services to make their accounts look more popular than they actually were. The twitter autofollow also lead to many spam accounts that took away from the value of the whole site and Twitters integrity.

You will notice at many of the most popular services that used to offer an auto follow service, that these features have been removed altogether or now you must single click on every user you wish to follow.  These services are still very valid and useful for those who wish to grow their twitter account. Most of these twitter services allow you to search for people in ways that you cannot within the Twitter website.  This alone can be worth using these third party twitter services to make sure that you find new and relevant tweeps to follow.  If you are working a marketing system using twitter, finding people that have similar interests to your topic or niche is a must, so these services can offer Internet marketers a lot of value in this field.

So moving forward without auto-follow on twitter may seem like a drag to some, but it is what it is.  Now, moving forward some may have to change their mass follow strategy or simply do it the old fashioned way, one click at a time!

Is Twitter Really That Great or Just The 3rd Party Twitter Apps?

twitter sucksTwitter is something that not all that many have thought  it was cracked up to be, but then…

Well the problem with twitter to most people is also it’s strong suite, that is it’s simplicity.  Well we all know that people in this techo-enhanced gadget loving age are not really looking for “simple” they are looking for “cool.”  So when a new person sees twitter for the first time, most every persons response is the same, “So This Is What Everybody Is Talking About?”  and there is the problem with twitter, it is nothing better than email, chat, instant messaging or even a simple online forum.

Twitter is nothing special, it does nothing new and really doesn’t make it any easier to communicate with anybody, because now you also have to go get another account to stay in touch with your same old friends.  It seems confusing to most and myself included.

The fact that you have to use 3rd party websites and applications to make it usable in the normal since.  If you want to share a photo, video or more than 140 characters, you off to anther site just to make this possible.

So the real question is what makes people want to download applications, get accounts at a bunch of sites and use many different websites to get the same effect as sending an email?  Well, I have no idea!

I suppose that the huge Buzz built around twitter has a lot to do with it.  For celebrities and other busy folks, the fact that you can automate its updates using RSS Feeds, so in essence you never even have to go to the site to “look” like you use it, may be appealing to some.

I love to see whats new on twitter once an a while, but I very rarily go directly to the website twitter.com I use other services that offer better search capability and don’t crash all the time due to over usage like twitter does.

The point of my rant here is this, twitter does nothing special, twitter as a website is not stable and its servers are down constantly, twitter is only usable if you use other websites to access it and again why not just post your info on any forum on the web?  I think that by any standards you choose to use, twitter is a failure as a web service among other things.

The only saving grace is that they used there best judgement to allow others to build on there code and make it usable to the common person my making their programming api’s available to the public.  But at the same time, if you need others to use your code to make your site worth using, why does twitter not take on the good ideas that others have created?

Well that’s enough smack talking for now, just frustrated that the fastest growing website on the planet is so bla!

How Many Twitter Followers Do You Have? Who Cares!

quality twitter followersYes, I know that the title of this article is bold and almost rude.   That is the point!  Many people on twitter think that having 10,000 twitter followers or more is going to make them money, make them important or even make them an authority on Twitter.  This is so far from the truth it is actually a lauchable matter.

Why Having A Gazillion Followers Will Not Make You an Automatic Success on Twitter

The number of people following you really has nothing to do with your success or lack there of on twitter.  This has to be the biggest misconseption of new Twitter marketers that I have run across to date.  I know everybody loves to see big numbers under their name, but when it comes down to it, these numbers mean a lot more if you know how you got them.

By this I mean, if you go jump on every viral Twitter Follower site you come across, 2 things happen:

  1. You are folling the same people, everybody who went to that site is following everybody who went to that site!  Does that make you have more pull with these people?  No, not at all and in fact, probably less.  People going to these sites are looking for one thing and that is followers, they have no interest in you or what you are tweeting about.
  2. You have now effectively taken away what ever good name you had on twitter by filling your tweets with spam from these sites.  Most of these sites send out a rediculus ammount of self serving messages.  Do you really want to promote the same junk?  I hope not.

Twitter Follower : Quality Over Quantity

The ONLY way to get more results from your twitter following, is to assure that you are adding people who know you or at least have similar interest.  Adding a “Follow Me” link on your main web site or blog is a great way to get real interested followers, because these followers have already seen your site and know what to expect and in most cases will be hungry for the information you are sharing.  If you are on many social networks, let all your friends and fans on all these sites know how to follow you on twitter as well, these will become quality followers as well.

If you only build your following by automated resources, you will have built a pretty weak army, there are some follow systems that allow you to choose topics of interest and these fall in the middle in my mind.

Twitter Testing and Results

Just to assure myself that I was not just blowing smoke with this post, I recently setup a few accounts on twitter.  I setup 2 that I hand picked the followers, make direct contact with each and built the way I suggest you do and I setup 2 accounts with autofollow twitter followers only.  I am sure you can guess the results and in this case the 90/10 rule really did prove itself.

I send out one promo tweet each day to all accounts, among other real messages.  I saw only about 10% the number of clickthroughs come from my auto follow accounts.   If you are an internet marketer trying to use twitter to get clicks and get paid, I think you get the picture.

Taking the time to grow your twitter account really does pay off!  If you want big numbers, go auto follow til you hearts content, but don’t expect these guys to pay the bills for you!

What Is the 20 Dollar Twitter Trick?

Yep, the $20 dollar twitter trick, is not really a trick, just some fast ways to make a big difference in the way you use twitter and if done right make some good money from doing what you are already doing on the twitter network.  You may not even use your twitter account for marketing and this will still work!
